With a brilliant and very autumnal round hosted by Cook Sister! in October, I have chosen another comforting theme for this month's instalment of "Waiter! There's something in my..."
Granted, not every possible partcipant is experiencing cold, rainy days like us, with some sunny intervals that feel even chillier, or has to scrape the ice off their car as they run out in the morning... but we're all in need of comfort food, no matter what the weather.
So the theme I am proposing for this round is ROAST. You can make this a traditional Sunday roast as is custom in the UK or give us a 101 to your Thanksgiving turkey, you can try your luck at making Beef Wellington or Beer Can Chicken or put a whole hog on the BBQ... you can even propose a vegetarian alternative - roast, stuffed butternut squash, anyone?
So the only rules are that you have a sizeable chunk of something or other that will be the protagonist of your dish, roasted whole (although BBQ'd is accepted) and present it with all the trimmings/sides you suggest. In that vein, no casseroles, stews or stir-frys or individually cooked dishes.
Please send your entries () by 30th November and I will have the round-up ready the following weekend!
Happy WTSIM everyone!
Woo hoo! Good choice of theme. I can see myself doing an elegant little roast for one :)

well, jeanne, think of it that way: if there are lots of left-overs, there are lots of things to make with it over the week. and that means lots of posts for november ;-)

It's cold and wet enough for a roast here in SA today - been chucking it down all day - could be hot again by Sunday but I'll go for a proper Sunday roast if I can - we love roast potatoes!

When you say a sizeable whole chunk of something... would it be acceptable to do, say, a nut roast or a mushroom roast? It's not a whole anything, but the idea is that you pack vegetarian ingredients into a pan and put it in the oven and what comes out is something similar to meat.

Well, around here the ice is thick, the temperature below zero and it rains a lot when it goes a little bit higher what makes it all worse some say.
Roast is a great idea.
