Euro-Blogging By Post #7

Postblogginglogo And just as you thought that this was another foodblogger event that has become extinct, I am happy to announce that 'tis not so!

What on earth is Euro-Blogging By Post?
It is a fun exchange of foodie goodies that attracts bloggers from all over Europe(!) Now in its seventh instalment, I will be hosting another round at the end of May and invite foodbloggers to send a parcel to a randomly allocated blogger who in turn will surprise yet another blogger somewhere - it is not a direct exchange, so until the day you receive your parcel, you'll be in the dark about who your benefactor is! This is a fun (and yummy) way of discovering new blogs or getting to now familiar ones even better - and, most importantly, to make one person very, very happy with your culinary CARE packet.

What am I supposed to send?
Whereas we have often left it completely open, I have decided to have a theme for this round: Childhood Sweets. Include at least one piece of what you were hooked on when you were growing up: gobstopper, cola bottles, hubbabubba, dippas, kinderschokolade... and if you can't find it in your supermarket, you may want to have a look here and similar sites for some retro-sweets. The rest is up to you: something artisanal, something regional or local, something home-made... the only thing to bear in mind is that it needs to travel well.
It needn't be expensive and you might want to keep an eye on weight, as postal prices are becoming extortionate everywhere... (Check with your post office beforehand - in the UK, for example, anything exceeding 2kg must be sent by courier)

How's it going to work?
You have three weeks from now to sign up (though the earlier, the better) and tell me all about your likes and dislikes. This will also give you time to source the childhood sweets you want to include, which in some cases (people living abroad etc) will involve having them sent or ordering them online.
I will take care of collecting all the addresses and hooking everybody up with a partner. Once you receive your parcel, you're supposed to blog about it and I will gather the information about which parcels have arrived and post a round-up linking to the individual posts.

How do I participate?
Send an email to as soon as you can with the following information:
Your name
Your postal address (this can be your work address if that's easier, but no PO Box - some people send via courier services and therefore need someone to sign for it upon receipt)
Your blog's name and URL
Your likes and dislikes (optional)

Deadline for signing up is the 20th of May 2007. I will send you your address before the 25th of May and you will be asked to send your parcel off no later than the 28th of May.
(I am happy to make exceptions for you to send it off earlier or to tell your partner not to send it until a certain day should you be away)

Once you receive your parcel, you let me know it has arrived, write about it on your blog and send me the permalink to your post, so I can include it in the round-up.

Go on then, treat yourself to a sweet surprise and sign up today!

what a fun swap. i checked out the links you posted with the retro sweets. it´s funny, but most of the sweets you can still get in germany in normal stores. :)

What a cool idea- any Yanks interested in doing our own version?

I’m in, great idea! Ok if I sent you an email via the normal way? They are asking me those questions when I hit your link…

Hi Johanna

I would like to take part in this event again, but cant get to your email!

:)

I love the idea of the childhood sweets. That will be a fun event! :-)

This sounds yummy! Does one really have to be a foodblogger in order to sign up? ;-)

hi dianne, the email address is an image for security reasons. you will have to type it into your email rather than clicking it. Alternatively, you can use the link on the very bottom of the left-hand column as well.
hi dorothee, sorry to say that it is only foodbloggers - but even if you only write about food occasionally, you would qualify... so go on - you've got until the 20th!

sadly i'm away as i'd have loved to get involved. next time johannna, i promise!

Hi abby,
As long as I know the dates and can have your packet sent before or after, there shouldn’t be a problem.
I can tell your sender to hold off until you’re back and assign your recipient beforehand so you mail it in advance of the deadline.
Deal?

count me in!

jummy, childhood-sweets... *dream*
